Gould Home Recreation takes this time to thank you for visiting our website.  Here is a little history on our company.

In 1958 the Gould family who was at that time selling hair and cosmetic products to all of the commercial barber shops and beauty salons, decided that they did not want to have all of their business ventures tied to cosmetics in case one of the larger companies came in and threw their weight around.  So they thought long and hard to decide on another business venture that would be easy to market thru their existing sales personel.  At this time most barber shops where attached to the local pool halls, so they decided to start a billiard business where their beauty sales staff could call on the billiard halls at the same time.  At this time the only real name in billiards was Brunswick so they meet with Brunswick management and started the first Billiard retail outlet in Saskatchewan.  Brunswick billiards goes back all the way to 1845.  At this time John Moses Brunswick started building pool tables and very quickly became the biggest and best name in billiards, and still today Brunswick is the largest billiard manufacturer in the world.

Over the years the game of billiards grew quickly and the number of billiard wholesalers also grew in number.  The Gould family triied many other brands of pool tables over the years until they settled upon Olhausen.  Unlike Brunswick which is today one of the largest companies in the world with Brunswick Billiards being only a small part of the world wide business, Olhausen has stuck with what they do best, building pool tables.  Olhausen is a family owned and operated business which originally started in a garage in California with 2 brothers who figured they could build a better pool table than anyone else.  These 2 brothers Donny and Butch Olhausen started working with pool tables as assistants to their father who was a billiard mechanic.  This background gave them a good knowlegde of what worked and didn't work with the other manufacturers.  They decided that the customer needed options, so today you have over 10 million options to build your own one of a kind pool, just the way you want.

Gould Home Recreation also carries a full range of recreation room furniture from darts, shuffleboard, foosball, air hockey and ping pong to portable bar systems and a full line of solid wood indoor furniture.

In 1990 Gould Home Recreation also introduced outdoor patio furniture to their customers.  They have had a couple of manufacturers over the years but in 1992 they started selling Homecrest Patio Furniture.  Homecrest has built a strong name in the patio furniture market by spending a lot of time and effort on the comfort level and durability of their furniture.  Homecrest offers over 10,000 combinations of color and frame style, with a full 15 year warranty.  All of their components are sold individual piece so you can build the set of your dreams.  They carry full dining sets as well as full deep seating sets.  So you can get anything from a couch and loveseat to a 10 piece dining set.

Gould Home Recreation offers you the top 2 pool table manufacturers and the top patio furniture manufacturer in the world with pretty much any option you can imagine and because we are the largest billiard retailer in Saskatchewan we can buy larger quanities which in terms means better pricing for you.  So is great price, best name, full life time warrantys on every pool table, the largest selection of accessories and pool tables, all that Gould Home Recreation can offer you?  How about the full time billiard mechanic team that has over 25 years experience and a sales staff with over 30 years experience.  Not to mention a relaxed laid back environment to walk into at the store everytime you visit.

The Gould family has spent a lot of years building their name as the place to buy your billiard and game room accessories as well as your outdoor furniture in Saskatchewan which is what made it difficult for them to sell the business in 2005.  They sold Gould Home Recreation to long term employee Brent Casey.  Brent was a billiard mechanic for the Gould family for 8 years before moving onto the sales floor in 2002.  When Kent Gould decided that he wanted to retire in 2005 the decision to purchase this well established business was an easy one for Brent.  Kent still stops by frequently and all of the old stories start to fly.  If there are any questions please feel free to call Brent or one of his staff at any time, they are always looking forward to talking to you.

The Gould Home Recreation family once again thanks you for your support over the last 50 years.
